“Lately, I am sensing a shift in opinion among friends and family where more and more are complaining about the high prices of RE and whether it’s a good thing or not for the city and families, especially among the Xers and Yers who are mostly being priced out completely. I think the recent stories on Global TV just reflect that change in sentiment.”

  1. Why do all you whiners think it is your god-given right to own a single family house 10 minutes from the downtown core of a major city? Vancouver west side should never be affordable for any making under $200K/year.

    • 1. Why do all you bullish snipers fabricate straw-man articles in your sleep? Where has anybody here every suggested that anybody has ‘the right’ to own any form of RE, anywhere, regardless of means?

      2. For a prudent individual to buy a SFH on the west-side based solely on their income stream, they would need an income of considerably more than $200K pa. More like $500K pa.
In other words, we agree: West-side SFHs should be affordable for someone earning $200K. They were, up to about 2001-2003, and they likely will be, again, once prices fall by 50%-66%. Your math is spot on!
