  3. renatabot. ugh.
that profile pic oozes integrity doesn’t it?! i’ll bet she has a lot of “satisfied customers” who have benefitted from her “personal attention.” nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

  4. @vreaa: I propose a new category: jumping the shark. I expect the province to have a few shark-jumping stories in the coming years that won’t fit nicely into the other categories.

Keep those eyes peeled on Kelowna for the good stuff…

    • Good idea. Please send along any spotted shark-jump moments, anybody.

      • When the ‘light gets right’ (sometime this summer)… Nemesis will create a feature length ‘Okanagan Heritage Edition – RE SharkJumpingMoments’ Picassa album/photo-essay for VREAA and audience… Pro bono. Of course. 😉

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away”.

    • I did not know what jumping the shark idiom means, here is what Wikipedia says.

“Jumping the shark is a widely used idiom – first employed to describe a moment in the evolution of a television show, characterized by absurdity, when a particular show abandons its core premises and begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery.

In its initial usage, it referred to the point in a television program’s history where the plot spins off into absurd story lines, unlikely characterizations and rampant addition or replacement of characters. These changes were often the result of efforts to revive interest in a show whose audience had begun to decline.[1][2][3]

The usage of “jump the shark” has subsequently broadened beyond television – indicating the moment in its evolution when a brand, design, or creative effort moves beyond the essential qualities that initially defined its success, beyond relevance or recovery – in a moment characterized by absurdity. Urban Dictionary defines “jump the shark” as the moment when something that was once great reaches a point of decline in quality and popularity.”

  5. Renata, please send me more info! I’m desperate to drop $3 mil on an utter piece of sh*t! I NEED to score you a couple hundred thousand in commission for basically doing nothing! Please get back to me in the next fifteen minutes or I’ll have to look elsewhere!

  6. This is a hilarious string of comments, complete with cheese-cake realtor photos and an important lesson in current etymology. But I want to draw your attention to the property in question. This house may look lovely from its frontage – the perfect picture of the leafy environs of West Point Grey. But it backs onto a very busy commercial lane on West 10th Ave. In other words, not a lot of peace and quiet in your back yard. Like many other examples, this sale indicates that we have reached a point where the prices being paid for these less- than- desirable properties are truly without logic and truly perverse.

    • The house is also 101 years old and has a crumbling foundation.
The lot is bigger than normal, but not quite a double.
It will probably be rented out to locals (main part of house plus two suites in the basement) until they decide to knock it down.

  7. What’s even more interesting is the address has two 4’s in it! Was this an asian investment?

    • I wondered about that too.
The mainland Chinese don’t seem to be as terrified of the number 4 as the pioneering Hong Kongers were. The ML Chinese are making brave inroads into Point Grey despite all of those deathly number 4s at the beginning of each house address.

  8. home sweet home

I used to work with Renata. I was a shocked to see her ad posted here at first but then I was not surprised when remembered the level of incompetence she displayed on the job. I am convinced she really does think this is a good place to troll for buyers.

  10. The selling of my home town like this makes me sick. People like you make me sick. Unfortunately young Vancouverites have no future in this town. Locals have no future here.
